Protect Maine’s Fishing Heritage wanted to share with you two recent pieces in Maine newspapers written by fellow lobstermen.
Ernie Burgess who is a life-long fisherman from Chebeague wrote a piece that was published in the Portland Press Herald about why we need to find the balance between lobstering and aquaculture.
Today, Rock Alley’s editorial around many of these same issues was printed in the Bangor Daily News. As most of you know, Rock fishes out of Jonesport/Beals and is President of the Maine Lobstering Union,

We continue to grow as an organization including in the southern area of the state which has been less impacted by leases. The lobstermen we have spoken to share their concern for all lobstermen in the state about this issue whether it impacts them right now or in the future.
